I HATE WALGREENS
I am sure lots of people hate walgreens. I myself said that I would never work at walgreens because I know how evil they are. Some things are out of my control. My awesome pharmacy got bought by walgreens a year ago. If i knew then what i know now i would have rather had them close our pharmacy. Instead they decided to do a remodel and turn us into them. It was a horrible process that included people from all over the country. Everyday we had 20 people in a tiny pharmacy that I had never seen before. Most of them just sat around doing nothing and getting paid for it. I am a technician and I want to warn anyone from working with them. If you have worked in any pharmacy other than walgreens or walmart than you will know that there is another way of doing things than how they do it. All the walgreens employees that i meet during this transition know nothing but walgreens. Walgreens trains them from cashier to be a tech. I actually went to school to be a tech. Since walgreens trains them they know no other way of doing things. If they work for walgreens they are brainwashed. The first day that my pharmacy opened as a walgreens was the worse day of my life. I knew things would be different but i had no idea how awful it would be. Customers are yelling at us, we are backed up for hours. All of our customers are transferring because the walgreens price of things is way out of control. I had a customer that had no insurance. Last month i charged him 17 dollars for his prescription. This month under walgreens i had to charge him 170 dollars. Of course he transferred. I really couldnt blame him. When it was my old pharmacy i had the ability to charge someone a decent price if they dont have insurance. Walgreens does not allow that. They want every bit of money for that medication. Just fyi that medication only cost the pharmacy like a dollar. That is ridiculas. Thats why i hate walgreens. I cant charge someone so much for a prescription that i know is so freaking cheap. And their discount program is just stupid. Why should someone pay 20 a year to save money. Why cant they just have better prices? They are trying to make it to where our customer service sucks just like theirs. Our store was known for our customer service. We knew all our customers names and medications. Now we are so busy with their bullshit that we cant even take time to counsel our customers. Walgreens said they were trying to learn from our practices. Good luck. You cant teach kindness.
